Who Can Apply

The Pioneer AFCU Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors and current college students who are members of Pioneer Appalachia Federal Credit Union.

  • Be an active Pioneer AFCU member — the student must be the member, not a parent or guardian
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75
  • Be pursuing post-secondary education in the upcoming academic year
  • Be a member in good standing with Pioneer AFCU

What to Submit

Your complete application package must include all four of the following items. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Completed application form

Download and fill out the official Pioneer AFCU scholarship application.

Original essay

Write an original response to the annual scholarship prompt included in the application.

Official transcript

Include an official high school or college transcript showing your cumulative GPA.

Letter of recommendation

At least one letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, or community leader.

The Pioneer AFCU Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors and current college students who are members of Pioneer Appalachia Federal Credit Union with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75. The student applying must be the member — not a parent or guardian.
A completed scholarship application form, an original essay responding to the annual prompt, an official high school or college transcript, and at least one letter of recommendation. All four items must be submitted together — incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
All recipients will be notified by May 22, 2026. Scholarships will be formally presented at Pioneer AFCU's Annual Meeting on June 23, 2026.
Membership is required to apply. If you're not yet a member, you can join Pioneer AFCU — membership is open to anyone in our service area across West Virginia, Ohio, and Kentucky. Visit our membership page to get started.
